Project BREAK

If you are someone interested in reducing or cutting down on your substance use, Project BREAK may be a good fit for you. we’ll provide you with free outpatient counseling, help you navigate the healthcare system, and get you connected to services.

Overview

Project BREAK is designed to help people who use substances (especially methamphetamine) to reduce, cut down, or take a break from their substance use. As part of the program, we’ll provide you with free outpatient counseling, help in navigating the healthcare system, and connection to services. Our program is offered at two main sites- The Miriam Hospital Immunology Center (TMH), and Project Weber/Renew (PWR). You’ll receive counseling and treatment for your substance use through TMH, while staff at PWR will offer peer support and help get you connected to services. We will work with you to create a customized treatment plan focused on your own goals related to your substance use.

Inclusion/exclusion

To be eligible for this program, you’ll ideally meet these criteria:
Be at least 18 years old
Identify as a Man who have Sex with Men (MSM)
Use stimulants like methamphetamine, crack, or cocaine, or misuse prescription amphetamines like Ritalin or Adderall

Even if you don’t meet these criteria, you still may be eligible for our program! If you:
Are a man who has sex with other men, but you use substances other than stimulants
OR
You are not a man, but believe you’re at an increased for getting or transmitting HIV
